Vignelli Subway Map Cufflinks
These cufflinks are made from authentic pieces of the Vignelli-designed NY Subway map, with a sterling silver bezel protected with mineral glass.
Massimo Vignelli was invited to recreate the New York Subway map after successfully designing the new subway signage program in 1970. The subway map design was published from 1972-1978, but misunderstanding about the use of the abstract "diagram" of the system led to changes in the design.
Both the signage and map projects feature the Helvetica font, which, have become modern design icons. And this map, in fact, has become an icon itself. A copy hangs in the NY MoMA and the Met. The cufflinks are licensed by the NY Transit Authority and come with a certificate of authenticity.
Made in the USA.
